The Country Oak Herringbone SPC flooring in natural oak combines timeless style with outstanding durability.

Part of our SPC range, it suits busy family homes and demanding commercial spaces. With an AC5 rating, it resists scratches, impacts and wear, and the 100% waterproof SPC core performs reliably in kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. The textured surface and detailed herringbone pattern deliver the look with the easy care of SPC click flooring. Natural oak tones add warmth and versatility, creating a classic wood effect floor that is durable, low maintenance and ideal for everyday living. Compatible with underfloor heating systems for year round comfort.

Is this floor hardwearing?
Yes, this SPC herringbone floor has an AC5 rating, so it is suitable for busy family homes and commercial use. It resists scratches, dents and wear for long lasting performance in high traffic areas.

Do you need underlay with this product?
This range includes an attached underlay, so there is no need to purchase additional underlay.

What is this floor made of?
SPC stands for Stone Polymer Composite. It blends limestone powder and PVC to create a rigid, stable and 100 percent waterproof core.

Is herringbone SPC harder to install than straight plank?
Herringbone needs more setting out and alignment but uses the same click system. Start from a centre spine, alternate the A and B planks and keep joints tight for a clean pattern.

Can this floor be used with underfloor heating?
Yes, it is compatible with most systems. Keep the surface temperature at or below 27 C and increase heat gradually at the start of each season.

Is this floor suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes, the waterproof core makes it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms.

How do you take care of the floor?
Sweep or vacuum regularly and clean with a damp mop and a neutral pH cleaner suitable for SPC. Avoid abrasive chemicals, steam cleaning and scouring pads.

What are the plank size and thickness?
These can be found in the product specifications above.

Is it suitable for pets and children?
Yes, the tough surface and waterproof core make it a practical choice for busy family homes with pets and children.

Can it be fitted over existing tiles or vinyl?
Yes, provided the existing surface is sound, dry and level. Any variation greater than 2 mm over a 1 metre span should be levelled with a suitable compound.

What expansion gap is required?
Allow a consistent gap of 10mm around all walls, door frames, pillars and fixed objects. Cover the gap with skirting or trims after installation.

Can kitchen islands or built in wardrobes sit on this floor?
Fixed objects should not be installed on top of a floating floor. Fit the floor up to the object with the correct expansion gap and cover with suitable trims.

Is it suitable for stairs and hallways?
Yes, the durable construction and AC5 rating make it suitable for hallways. For stairs, follow the manufacturer guidance and use the correct stair nosings and profiles.

Does the floor need to acclimate before installation?
Let the product sit in the room conditions before fitting so it can adjust to temperature and humidity as recommended by the manufacturer.

What is the warranty?
SPC herringbone floors have a 20 year warranty.

Site preparation and subfloor
Remove all furniture and thoroughly brush and vacuum the subfloor. The surface must be clean, dry and level before fitting.
Check for uneven areas. Any irregularities greater than 2 mm over a 1 metre span should be levelled with a suitable floor levelling compound.
If fitting over new concrete, ensure it is fully dry. Drying can take two to four months depending on depth and conditions.
Most SPC herringbone products include an integrated underlay so no separate underlay is required. If your product does not have an attached underlay, use only a thin non cushioned underlay that is approved for SPC flooring.

Expansion gaps
Leave a consistent expansion gap of 5 to 7 mm around all walls, pillars, door frames and fixed furniture such as kitchen islands.
When drilling around pipes, leave a 5 to 7 mm gap around the pipe.
Do not fix heavy objects directly to the floating floor, as this can restrict natural expansion and contraction.

Setting out for herringbone

  1. Find and mark the room centre line with a chalk line. Check the line is square to the main walls.

  2. Dry lay several pairs of A and B planks along the centre line to confirm the angle and confirm the pattern looks even at both sides of the room.

  3. Create a straight starter spine using a temporary straightedge or by assembling a straight row of paired A and B planks along the centre line. This keeps the pattern square and prevents creeping.

  4. Check doorways and thresholds. Decide whether you will run the spine through the doorway or finish with a border trim.

Installation guidelines

  1. Begin at the centre line on your straight starter spine. Click one A plank to one B plank to form the first V. Keep the V centred on the line.

  2. Add the next pair, alternating A and B planks so the tongues and grooves lock correctly. Maintain tight joints with a tapping block and a light mallet.

  3. Work outwards from the centre spine toward each wall, keeping the pattern aligned and square. Check alignment every few rows with a square.

  4. When you reach the end of a row, measure and cut the last plank to fit, remembering to maintain the expansion gap. Use an offcut to mark accurate scribe lines for irregular walls.

  5. Continue building the pattern row by row, alternating A and B planks. Keep the points of the herringbone sharp and the joints fully engaged.

  6. At walls and door frames, undercut trims where possible for a neat finish. Otherwise, leave the expansion gap and cover later with skirting or profiles.

  7. For the final rows, measure and rip cut planks as needed to follow the wall while maintaining the expansion gap.

  8. Remove spacers and install skirting boards or scotia to cover the expansion gaps. Do not fix trims through the flooring.

After installation
The floor can be walked on immediately after installation.
Maintain room temperature between 18 C and 27 C for best performance.
If using underfloor heating, increase the temperature gradually at the start of the heating season and do not exceed a surface temperature of 27 C.
Place felt pads under furniture and use entrance mats to reduce grit and scratching.

Always follow the manufacturer instructions specific to your SPC herringbone product. Some systems require a different starting method or a different click angle for A and B planks.

Regular Cleaning
Sweep or vacuum your SPC flooring regularly to remove dust and debris. Use a soft-bristle broom or vacuum with a hard-floor attachment to prevent surface scratches.

Mopping and Washing
Clean the floor with a damp mop using warm water or a neutral pH floor cleaner designed for vinyl or SPC flooring. Avoid excessive water — the surface is waterproof, but standing water can seep into joints and loosen adhesive trims over time.

Avoid Harsh Products
Do not use abrasive chemicals, wax, or solvent-based cleaners. Avoid scouring pads, steam cleaners, and high-pressure equipment, as these can dull the finish or damage click joints.

Prevent Scratches
Use felt pads or soft protectors under furniture legs. Avoid dragging heavy items directly across the surface. Place entry mats at doorways to catch grit and dirt that can mark the floor.

Temperature and Environment
SPC flooring performs best in room temperatures between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid long-term exposure to direct sunlight by using blinds or curtains, as intense heat can cause minor expansion or discolouration.

Spill and Stain Removal
Wipe up spills promptly with a dry or slightly damp cloth. For stubborn marks, use a mild detergent diluted in warm water. Avoid ammonia-based or acidic products.

Underfloor Heating Use
If fitted over underfloor heating, ensure the surface temperature does not exceed 27°C. Increase the heat gradually at the start of each heating season to prevent thermal shock.

Long-Term Care
Regularly check skirting, trims, and transitions to ensure they remain secure. If a plank becomes damaged, it can be replaced individually thanks to the SPC click system.
